With the rapid development of China's economy and culture life, people's attitude towards love and marriage is changing. In our country, the phenomenon of unmarried cohabitation becomes more and more popular. It not only rocks the traditional marriage but also leads to disputes and brings difficulties in judicial practice. So far, China hasn't enough related laws of unmarried cohabitation. But in France, a civil solidarity pact(French: pacte civil de solidarité), commonly known as a PACS(pronounced: [paks]), went to effect in 2000. It is an original contractual form of civil union between two heterosexual or homosexual adults for organizing their joint life.Compare with marriage, PACS is more flexible. Nowadays it is recognized and accepted by the French society. Facing the high rate of divorce and the increasing problems of old peoples' marriage, PACS can surly provide us some reference value. This research divided into five chapters to discuss the French civil solidarity pact and its feasibility in China. The first chapter introduces the PACS and its current trends. The second chapter is a compare between cohabitation, PACS and marriage. The importance of the legislation for cohabitation in our countryand the difficulties we might to face will be discussed in Chapter Three and Four. In the end of my research, I will give a concept of the legislation of PACS in China.
