The Nationalism Factors In European Integration

European integration occurs mainly in the European region,but due to the traditional influence of European countries,European integration is remarkable all over the world.European integration has marched to the stage of the European Union,,and its pace is also the fastest among the phenomenon of the integration of the world.In this paper,which is named The Nationalism Factors in European Integration,I put an emphasis on the analysis of nationalism and European integration.Nationalism is one of the three trends of contemporary world.It is also is a specific historical phenomenon that occurred during the process of the formation of nations.As a product of the French Revolution,nationalism emerged at the end of the 18th century in Europe,and quickly swept the world in the next two hundred years.This article is mainly composed by three parts:introduction,text and conclusion.The first chapter is the introduction part which includes the background and significance of the study,research purpose and research methods,research status.The key substance is to expound the theoretical foundation and logic of the thesis through research innovation.The second chapter mainly elaborates the definitions including the nation,nationalism,supranationalism,etc.Here the paper combs the core concepts related to nation,nationalism and supranationalism.Then it is about the summary of the theories of nationalism and European integration.Furthermore,the paper aims to make an overview about the views and opinions such as reference to academic research.Nation is such a human group whose members are aware of the common language,history,culture,geography and ancestors.These ties link them into a whole,and they are willing to contribute themselves to serving as members of this whole life together,and dedicate the highest loyalty to the whole.It is the theory of national policy,and social practice and the mass movement aimed to pursue and safeguard the rights and interests of the national survival and development of people under the influence and guidance of the theory and policy.The third chapter mainly explores the evolution of nationalism in Europe from the longitudinal prospective of induction and the historical analysis method.Modern nationalism in Europe had experienced three stages of development:the first stage was from 1500 to the French revolution,which was the emergence and growth stage for the European nation-state when the major European countries transformed to absolute dynasty countries from hierarchical monarchy system in the middle ages;the second stage was from the French Revolution to the end of the second world war,which was the European nation-state expansion phase which inspired a wave of the rest of the country for national independence and national unity,and thus led to a severe turbulence and conflict in Europe;the third stage was the development of the European Union after the second world war when European nationalism and nation states started a new fusion in the common development.From the prospective of history,examine the European such a region with a common cultural traditions,this part came to the conclusion that nationalism in the area tended to develop into a higher and deeper level.The fourth chapter mainly discusses the impact of nationalism on European integration.Nationalism plays a very important role in the process of European integration.As it is always related to the pursuit of the state and national interests first,it is a double-edged sword,which means that it plays a positive role in promoting the European integration process on the one hand,and plays a negative role in the European integration process on the other hand.For one thing,the generation of European integration is the objective requirement of the countries trying to safeguard national interests.Since the establishment of the European Coal and Steel Community,the combination of European countries is getting more and more close,and the level of integration is getting more and more high,which should in large part be contributed to the active promotion of nationalism.Nationalism used to speed up the European economic integration.For the other,as the goal of nationalism is to pursue and maintain the best interest of the state and the nation,the contradiction,friction and conflict are inevitable among member states because of different interests during the process of European integration.This may cause negative effect to the European integration process.The fifth chapter is the conclusion part.It summarizes the full text and main ideas,and tries to make a point about the future development of European integration and nationalism.The mutual adjustment between countries,mutual tolerance,mutual compromise gave birth to the concept of common interests and concepts.The nationalist-concerned concepts of self-interest and self-esteem define the form and connotation of regional integration.The enlargement and deepening of European Union shape the form and connotation of the nationalism in return.
