Lawyers Practice In The Era Of Big Data

In recent years, the world set off a wave of big data. The data has penetrated into all industries and become more and more important. As global consulting company McKinsey predicted, British professor Viktor Mayer-Sch?nberger makes a more specific interpretation for this idea in his book “Big Data: A Revolution That Will Transform How We Live, Work, and Think”. This leads to lots of discussion about big data over the world. Big data subvert the traditional model of economic development of the industry, even the legal occupations. A new revolution will be coming. In 2015, Premier Li first proposed the "Internet +" in government work report. The “Internet+” combines big data and modern manufacturing and promotes healthy development of economic commerce and modern finance. Traditional industry gradually realizes that it is necessary to achieve the transformation and upgrading, otherwise, they will be eliminated in this revolution. The Internet and big data are imperative. Therefore, the traditional legal occupations also need to connect with big data and follow the information age.This paper focused on lawyers in big data times. The kind of job is selected as object of study. The paper mainly introduced the legal electronic commerce and the professional skills of lawyers in new generation. It is divided into four parts, which are demonstrated below:The first part of the paper introduced the concept of big data and the professional characteristics of lawyers. Moreover, the challenges facing by traditional lawyers are discussed with the analysis of development tendency of lawyers in big data times.The second part of the paper talked about the impact of electronic commerce to the legal services in the eyes of layers. Furthermore, it illustrated the current situation and the problems of domestic legal electronic commerce with corresponding countermeasures. The situations of foreign legal electronic commerce are mentioned as well.The third part, in the view of a lawyer, the article introduced some basic skills that a lawyer should have in the era of big data. Above all, data were collected. Then they were analyzed and arranged, for the use of application. Finally, the importance of electronic data evidence to a lawyer's practice in new era was stated in the end.The forth part is mainly about some imaginations of future work for lawyers, including innovation of lawyer evaluation system, improvement of institution for electronic data evidence, future development trend of legal service and information construction of legal community.
