Study On The Initiative Of “One Belt And One Road” In The International Energy Cooperation Between China And ASEAN

Energy is the basic requirement for promoting economic and human development.Since the stage of large-scale industrialization,the use of energy has become the "blood" of modern economy and social life-styles.Its role is extremely important for a country for its development,just like air and water to human beings.As energy plays such an important role in modern economic and social developments,it therefore acts as a major competitive factor in world economic trades and also has become the focus of "political game" among major powers.Embraced by many countries,“One Belt and One Road” initiative provides an important opportunity for energy cooperation among China and ASEAN countries.For the energy suppliers,consumers and energy transit countries in the region,regional energy cooperation not only ensures that transport safety reduces the risks effectively through the construction of energy infrastructure but also enhances the ability to resist external threats and avoid price premium so as to reduce transaction costs.This long-term cooperation can also improve cooperative countries' positions in the international energy markets as well as ensure their sayings.Hence,it is of significance to achieve energy supply security."21st Century Maritime Silk Road" covers a large number of ASEAN countries.It not only shows that ASEAN countries have rich energy,but also we can find that China and ASEAN have traditional energy cooperation.“One Belt and One Road” initiative provides the essential needs for energy cooperation in China and ASEAN countries.Energy cooperation will become the focus of “One Belt and One Road” initiative.On this basis,energy cooperation will promote regional economic cooperation,and become the key stage to have the community of common destiny for both sides eventually.Therefore,given the context of “One Belt and One Road” initiative,this paper mainly researches the regional energy cooperation in China and ASEAN countries by using the literature reviews and qualitative analysis.It mainly explores the basis for cooperation,its development stages and cooperation model.Additionally,based on the state quo of regional energy cooperation of China-ASEAN,this paper analyses the challenges and opportunities from both the regional energy cooperation of ChinaASEAN and“One Belt and One Road”initiative.In order to deepen the regional energy cooperation of China-ASEAN,this paper also give some recommendations to achieve the regional energy security.This paper is divided into six chapters.Chapter One serves as an introduction to the research background,research objectives,literature review and research methodologies.Chapter Two introduces the core concept and related theories.Chapter Three focuses on the description of the background of China-ASEAN regional energy cooperation.Chapter Four makes a detailed analysis of the state quo of China-ASEAN regional energy cooperation based on the “One Belt and One Road” initiative.Chapter Five puts forwards corresponding recommendations on promoting the China-ASEAN regional energy cooperation.Chapter Six introduces the conclusion of this paper and prospects of the China-ASEAN regional energy cooperation.
