After the end of the Second World War,the United States grabbed the world hegemony.In the early postwar period,both in the political,economic and military,the United States has obvious advantages.Similar to previous hegemonic logic,the United States may alert competitors,but it is different from the past,this alert doping ideological factors more,so the United States on the one hand to consolidate their political dominance,has served as a world of democracy,freedom,equality,human rights defenders and promoters.Ideally,these two should be unified,but in reality there are fragmented.In some areas,in order to obtain the following areas of the country,the United States had to tolerate,tolerate or even condone such as Ethiopia,South Africa's autocracy,racism and colonialism regime's brutal rule.But with the changing international environment,such a policy is becoming increasingly unsustainable.From the beginning of Kennedy,the United States made some policy changes,the gradual strengthening of the racist South Africa authorities pressure and sanctions,although this does not make the black country completely satisfied,but at least the world saw in morality and interests of the United States is facing the moral direction of displacement.However,with the advent of Nixon,the situation subtle changes.This kind of foreign policy with strong idealism gradually faded,and gradually turned to the realistic diplomatic proposition advocating the construction of the new balance of power.Communist China and its Western European allies are its partners in the Soviet union.But the relative decline of American power is an undeniable fact.In their inability to expand across the board,had to escape from some minor areas.But at the time of the Soviet offensive,the United States had to consider the possible strategic vacuum.And South Africa is such a vacuum.Nixon took office after the change of the former policy,consider the South Africa into their own strategic board,so the U.S.government on the issue of South Africa has done a lot of research and discussion.This paper will discuss with Nixon the New South Africa policy brewing,and the introduction of based on the process of implementation of the policy analysis of Nixon in South Africa in all aspects of reasons,characteristics and effects,a comprehensive display of diplomatic relations between the United States and Republic of South Africa during this period.According to the American interpretation of the relationship,Nixon reveals the South Africa policy is a typical transport Nixon doctrine in Africa,It is also a typical case of Nixon's "partnership".The full text is divided into three partsThe first part is the introduction,which mainly expounds the main basis of the topic,the research status at home and abroad,the basic content of the thesis and the theoretical and practical significance.The second part is the main text,which is divided into three chapters.The first chapter introduces diplomatic relations between the United States and South Africa before Nixon came into power.This chapter will elaborate on the factors of South Africa America's strategic and economic value,the influence of the United States enacted policies in South Africa;the second chapter is the main part of this paper,this part will use a large number of United States government declassified documents,Nixon introduced South Africa policy background,process and effect of American relations as a process five problems respectively,especially the National Security Council interagency panel submitted by the African report focuses on the analysis,a comprehensive display of Nixon of South Africa policy.The third chapter is the analysis of the relationship between the southern Nixon Ford period,will change from the content,origin,characteristics and influence of four aspects of interpretation,and to reveal the theoretical connotation,deepen our understanding of the Nixon period in the United States on the South Ford understanding of foreign policy.The third part is the conclusion,a brief summary of the relationship between the southern Nixon period from the macroscopic angle,and make some personal views on the concept of Nixon's strategy and actual behavior.
