Research On The Long Term Care Service System For Rural Disabled Elderly In China

With the aging of the rural population,the disabled elderly population gradually expand and get attention.The development of medical and health services,not only helped us extending our life expectancy,but also brought many social problems,especially in rural areas where the positive effect had not yet been common.Compared to urban elderly,the disability problems of elderly population in rural areas is more serious.Regardless of sex distinction,the disability rates are rising in a high rate.Furthermore,severe disability population is scaling up.In order to fully understand the factors that affect the disability of the elderly in rural areas,which will indirectly affect the demand for long-term care services,we used the scheduling model and multi valued model regression analysis,taking gender,age,whether suffering from physical disability or chronic disease,marital status,the interaction of gender and smoking and drinking as independent variables,the disability of rural elderly as dependent variable.Regression results found that all of the seven variables can affect the disability of rural elderly.In addition,there is also a big differences between there significant effects in different degree of disability,which can be echoed with the present situation.The practical meaning of the regression results has been proved.Moreover,through data analysis and interviews,we found that the status of long-term care for disabled elderly in rural areas is not optimistic.At the macro level,there are a lack of long-term planning and the insufficient of financial support.At the micro level,there are problems including high threshold of public pension institutions,low efficiency of resource utilization,funding difficulties in private pension institutions,and insufficient supply of family care waiting to be solved.In the full analysis of the current situation and problems of long term care in the supply level,as well as the impact factors of demand,combined with the practices in some regions in China,we given some suggestions from the responsibility government,social organization to individual from the perspective of the supply of responsibility,which including the initiate of long-term planning,the establishment of the cohesion system,strengthen financial support,establish entry and exit mechanism,and the formation of the Commonwealth of medical service supply mode.Just as a reference for further study.
