Learning motivation plays an important role in the learning process.Whether motivation is reduced has immediate effect upon learning. Compared to the west, research of demotivation in China is in its infancy. Most of researches are based on students taught in Chinese, while the researches based on students taught in Mongolian are rare.Therefore, the study aims at researching demotivation of Mongolian students in English tense learning. The research questions are: 1) Is there a phenomenon of demotivation in English tense learning among Mongolian students of Grade 2 in senior high school? 2) What are the main factors of demotivation? 3)How to alleviate and eliminate the demotivating factors ?Subjects of the survey are Mongolian students of Grade 2 in Ordos Mongolian senior high school. The quantitative and qualitative methods are used in the study. The author analyzes the data of questionnaire with SPSS(17.0). The author also makes a face to face interview with the teachers and students, which verifies the results of the questionnaire.It can be concluded from the study that the phenomenon of demotivation in English tense learning among Mongolian students of Grade 2 in senior high school is relatively common. And there are four factors of students' demotivation in English tense learning: the factor related to teachers; the factor related to students themselves; the factor related to learning environment; the factor related to teaching materials.Based on the results of research, the author also puts forward some teaching suggestions: First, teach students the learning strategies of English tense; Second, reflect upon the teaching frequently; Third, develop the teaching materials and improve the interesting of teaching materials; Forth,work together with students to create a better class environment.There are five chapters in this thesis. Chapter one includes the research background, research purpose, research significance and the framework of the thesis; Chapter two defines the concepts of motivation and demotivation;Chapter three elaborates the research questions, participants, instruments and data analysis; Chapter four presents the results of questionnaire and interview,and the results are discussed finally; Chapter five states some pedagogical suggestions and summaries.
