The complexity and creativity of the language itself, make us have to understand and learn language from different aspects. In general, people learn English from listening, speaking, reading and writing four aspects, corresponding to the four aspects, there comes the listening, speaking, reading and writing ability. However, in the background of Chinese language and culture and its educational examination system, these four abilities don’t get balanced development. Reading ability develops fastest, following by listening and writing ability, the oral ability last. The author was deeply influenced by the output hypothesis theory. Based on the output hypothesis theory, the author designed senior high school oral English teaching and proposed these two hypotheses:(1) the application of the output Hypothesis theory to oral English teaching in senior high school has a positive role in improving oral English ability of high school students, which mainly focuses on oral fluency, accuracy and comprehensibility;(2) the application of the output Hypothesis theory to oral English teaching in senior high school can increase students’ oral English learning interest and confidence. The author used literature review, experiment and analysis in this paper to test and verify the two hypotheses. The author elaborated the outputhypothesis, the functions of output hypothesis theory and its foreign and domestic related researches. The author designed the senior high school oral English class based on the output hypothesis and implemented it in the experimental class. The experimental results showed that no matter the comparison between experimental class and control class or the comparison with the experimental class itself, this kind of teaching designation improved students’ oral fluency, accuracy and comprehensibility, and also increased their oral English learning interest and confidence. This paper is divided into five parts. The first part is the introduction part, mainly introduces the research background, purpose and significance. The second part is the literature review section, introduces definition of speaking, functions and previous studies of output hypothesis theory. The third part describes the research methods, the research hypotheses, research instruments and experimental processes. The fourth part is data analysis and discussion section. The results of this experiment were analyzed by SPSS17.0 and explained elaborately. The fifth part is conclusion part, mainly states the discovery of the experiment, and some recommendations for future high school English teaching and experiment research according to the main findings in this thesis.
