The English teaching in class is a process of interaction between teachers and students. Teacher questioning plays a vital role in stimulating the classroom interaction. The former researchers have made a great number of researches about the teaching questioning and have obtained a lot of research results. In the former researches, some researchers put the junior middle school, senior high school and also the college English classes as the research subjects. This paper we will focus on the senior high school English class.According to the previous research, this paper will adopt questionnaire, classroom observation and interview to conduct case study of effects of teachers' questioning on teacher-student interaction in high school English class. The research took five English teachers and 150 senior middle school students in High School affiliated to Guangzhou University, aiming to look into the current situation of English classroom teacherstudent interaction. First, the author decided to choose the students from 5 different classes as the participants of the questionnaire investigation to learn how teacher's questions influence English classroom interaction. Then the researcher had a free talk with each teacher after class by face-to-face talk in order to know is used to collect more detailed information about English classroom teacher-student interaction from the English teachers' perspective. In the end, during the internship, the author sat in the back of the classroom and took notes about the authentic information occurred in each English class. The research lasted for 3 months, from October to December, 2015. The purpose of this research is to obtain the relationship among the type of teacher questioning, the distribution of questioning, wait time, the feedback of questioning and the classroom interaction.In this paper, three research questions to be addressed in this study are:(1) What is the relationship between the types of teacher questioning and classroom interaction?(2) What is the relationship between the distribution of repliers and classroom interaction?(3) What is the relationship between the wait time and classroom interaction?(4) What is the relationship between the feedback of teacher questioning and classroom interaction?Based on the research, it can be shown that(1) It is found that display questions can bring more interaction between teachers and students. What's more, this kind of questions is more welcomed by students.(2) The chorus answering and teachers' nominating randomly these two ways can better foster the teacher-student interaction.(3) The wait time of three to five seconds is more helpful to students' language output and is good for teacher- student interaction.(4) A positive feedback can foster the teacher-student interaction but the positive feedback should not be so simple. All in all, there is a close relationship between classroom interaction and teachers' questioning.
