The Research And Application On HDI By Multivariate Statistics

In 1990, an index which would be used for measuring human development level was came up with United Nations Development Program (we call it UNDP for short in following parts). What's more, a system was established to calculate human development index and published to people all over the world. According to the index system, human development indexes of most countries across the world have been figured out and announced to the world termly.However, there exists a few shortcomings in cases. The index is not perfect at all. Some important points are pointed out in this paper, such as the incomprehensive basic indexes and the subjective weight of every basic index. And methods to solve these problems correspondingly are provided. For example, environment index is brought in to form more complete basic elements. And entropy weight method and principal component analysis are applied to work out all of the weights of elements which is in order to count out more objective numbers.Afterwards, all areas in China are classified by means of clustering methodology. It shows that the human development levels of our country approximately can be divided into three parts. And the boundaries are those of the three economic areas. Therefore, the new HDI formula is wielded to measure human development indexes of eastern coastal economic area, middle transitional economic area and western marginal economic area in China. Firstly, computing the formula via the new method. As the analytical approaches are analogous, the eastern one is picked out to describe in details. Then, the box plot is combined, discrepancies in different periods or on various formula are not only discovered but also accounted for. The conclusion is similar to the current situation in our country.After that, to prove the correctness of the new case put forward, human development indexes of every province and some cities as samples are chosen and actor analysis is applied into it. Comparing the old environment indexes and new data, the environment index can be found of great importance. Consequently, the amendatory index is obviously objective and exact.In the end, a summary of the whole article is proposed. And the weakness of the paper is pointed out. May all of these above could make sense to further improvement of human development index in the future.
