With the rapid social and economic development of our country, the high education in our country has entered into a popularized stage. According to the statistical data released by National Bureau of Statistics of the People's Republic of China in 2015, there are 40.181 millions college students in our country. However, there are only 130 thousands full-time college counselors. In addition, the post-90 s students are sharp in mind and diverse in personalities, the high speed development of Internet and Internet media have also greatly changed the task, target and method of moral education in colleges. Thus, the pressure and burden on the shoulder of college counselors are very heavy. As the primary battlefield of ideological and political education, our colleges should build up a stable and professional rank of college counselors. This will be the crux for the success of ideological and political education in colleges.To realize our target, we need pay special attention to the college counselor beginners, who have just started their career as college counselors. According to this research, there are lots of complicated factors which affect their professional identity. Some college counselor beginners take their job as transitionary and have no clear occupational planning. All these factors not only led to the instability of college counselor rank, but also affect the quality of students' cultivation and education in our colleges. This case study chooses four college counselor beginners as the subjects of investigation, and analyses the current situation and influencing factors of their professional identity. In addition, this research also seeks for some tangible methods to improve the professional identity of college counselor beginners, and endeavors to contribute some references and ideas on this topic.This paper consists of five chapters. Chapter 1 introduces the background, significance and method of this research and summarizes the existing researches both in China and abroad on this topic. Chapter 2 defines the important concepts and introduces the main theories used in this paper. The Chapter 3 investigate on the current situation of professional identity of four college counselor beginners in N University. According to result of this investigation, four subjects have already recognized their identity as a college counselor, but their professional identity as college counselor is not formed yet. Chapter 4 analyses the factors influencing the professional identity of college counselor beginners in four dimensions, including working environment, social environment, home environment and personal factors. Chapter 5 brings up some counter measures to build up the professional identity of college counselor beginners, mainly based on the Workplace Learning Theory and Lifelong Learning Theory.
