Middle-income Families In Urban Areas Of Risk Awareness And Evading Capability Analysis

At the beginning of human activities, the risk had already existed. However, at that time, the risks for human mainly came from the nature. Since 1970 s, the human society has been undergoing unprecedented development and the ability of human to transform the nature and world has also been in rapid development. Correspondingly, the social risks have been on the rise. Under the background, this paper, taking urban middle-income families as research target, employs literature review, interview and other methods to analyze the main problems existed in the urban middle-income families when facing the social risks based on the theory on risk society raised up by famous German sociologist Ulrich Beck. Also, it analyzes the risk aversion ability of urban middle-income families from the perspectives of property risk, life risk and liability risk. Besides, the main elements influencing the risk awareness of urban middle-income families are analyzed from the perspectives of family, society and government.Through the analysis, it is not hard to find that the security awareness held by Chinese on social risks is still weak. Besides, the complicated and ever-changing family risks have seriously affected the daily lives of urban middle-class families, and some of them even have already caused great loss on those families. During the survey, the problems such as lacking for scientific understanding towards new types of risks, lacking for risk awareness, lacking for emergency awareness when facing risks, lacking for education on risk awareness, etc. are identified in the urban middle-income families. Based on the problems, the elements influencing the risk awareness and risk aversion ability in urban middle-income families are analyzed and solutions from the perspectives of family, society and government are offered. To improve the risk awareness and risk aversion ability, the efforts and cooperation from government, society and family are needed. Also, hope that after the paper, more attention could be given on the general situation of risk awareness in urban middle-class families and the families themselves could cultivate scientific risk awareness so as to deal with the risk and avoid the risks successfully.
