The study focuses on the center players in the top eight teams of the 1st FIBA Basketball World Cup for men. Methods of video study, document study and mathematical statistics are applied to observe and study these players. Their physical conditions, and offensive and defensive techniques are systematically summarized to offer training strategies to the cultivation of center players of Chinese basketball men's team, regional teams and training of different levels. The conclusions are as follows:First, Among the centers of the 1st World Cup top eight teams, the weights of Spanish center Marc Gasol, Asik from Turkey, Jonas Valanciunas from Lithuania, and Brazilian center Hilario are lower than the average weight, which helps them a lot to grab and control on court. The ages of Brazilian center Hilario, Spanish center Marc Gasol, Asik from Turkey, Serbian center Raduljica and French center Boris Diaw are higher or equal to the average, which shows that excellent centers should be of appropriate age, and that will be the foundation of their fitness.Second, Marc Gasol from Spain, Diaw from France and Anthony Davis from the USA occupy wider offensive zones and larger active areas on court, though they are not the major score points on court, they have essential functions, perform well in the games to shoulder their duty, and they are clear with their jobs. The technique features of Raduljica from Serbia are somewhere in between, but his personal ability is slightly lower than those three players. He has better perimeter shot, but weaker insider deterrence than them three. Asik from Turkey and Jonas Valanciunas from Lithuania, because of their slow step movements, rely more on perimeter in terms of team cooperation, and score in single ways, though they have excellent offensive ability, the overall coordination is not perfect.Third, in the aspect of defense, Spanish center Marc Gasol and French center Diaw are able to expand defensive zone as possible as they can, steal as much as they can, and move steps as fast as they can. Turkey center Asik, Slovenia center Omic, French center Diaw, and Serbia center Raduljica aggressively grab rebounds, and actively take part in fast team offense. American center Anthony Davis compensates his defense with jumping. He has stronger offensive ability compared with his defensive ability, and accurate, in-time and rational first pass after grabbing defensive rebounds, who is a strong guarantee for the whole team fast attack. Brazil center Hilario has obvious physical advantage and slower step movement. His control of defensive area is slightly weak. He keeps grabbed defensive rebound longer, and can not manage first pass in time. Turkey center Hilario is similar with Brazil center Hilario in the terms of defense. His step movement is slower, but his physical fitness is very good.
