Learning difficulties(LD)is the greatest number in special education,and it is noted that over 80%of LD have reading comprehension barrier.It is self-evident that reversing the LD's bad learning needs improving their reading comprehension ability.Therefore,this study is to probe into the characteristics of the reading comprehension ability and the five-item cognitive abilities based on the PASS theory of LD students,the relationship between both abilities.And based on those,a effective intervention strategies to improve the reading comprehension ability of LD will be disigned,which will provide a reference for their rehabilitation training.The results showd the followings:1.The Characteristics of the Reading Comprehension in Children with Learning Difficulties in Grade 3-563 LD students and 76 normal students were tested with the Test of Reading Comprehension.The results showed that The children with LD had difficulties in the basic reading comprehension ability,and the effective intervention needed to explore.2.The Characteristics of the five-item cognitive abilities based on the PASS theory of LD students21 LD students and 31 normal students were tested with the five-item cognitive abilities based on the PASS theory.The results showed that LD students lagged behind the normal students in he five-item cognitive abilities.3.The Relation between the Five-item Cognitive Abilities Based on The PASS Theory and Reading ComprehensionA total of 34 fourth-year primary school students took tests involving the five-item cognitive abilities and the reading comprehension.The results showed that the reading comprehension was significantly related to the five-item cognitive abilities.The graphic reasoning had the strongest predictive effect to semantics in the reading comprehension.4.Intervention Strategies Based on PASS Theory of Children with Learning DifficultiesBased on those results of the reseach,a intervention strategies used by cognition to improve the the reading comprehension ability of LD is designed.Meanwhile,it is proved effective,which not only provided a reference for their rehabilitation training,but also testified the the relation between the five-item cognitive abilities based on the PASS theory and reading comprehension.
