As entering 21 century,the demands for hunman's ability is becoming higher and higher,as the world language English becomes more important.With the development of the society,the international exchange and cooperation becomes more frequently.Oral English communication becomes very normally and plays an important role in daily life.The traditional English teaching focuses more on the students' exam scores,vocabulary and grammar,reading comprehension.Because of the influence of language environment and exam-oriented education system,the students lack of practicing of oral communication,although they start to learn English since their primary school,some of them even can't recognize the alphabet.So we should change the situation right now.The aim of Activity-based approach in English teaching is to encourage the teachers use a variety of colorful activities to organize the teaching.Because this approach can effectively avoid teacher-oriented,ignoring students' learning environment,it can stimulate students' motivation for learning English,enhance their interest in learning to promote students' learning initiative and practical abilities.Using a variety of activities can not only regulate English-learning environment,but also can stimulate students' interests in learning English,at the same time,it can fully develop the potential of students and stimulate students' creativity.After analyst of the current situation of oral English teaching in vocational schools,the writer also analyzed about the student enrollment,textbook using,teachers' quality,the school aptitude towards English teaching,and make a large number of questionnaires.Through the data collection and analyst,the writer believes that the students in vocational schools need activity-based approach.Through the questionnaire,oral tests,the writer chooses two classes one as experimental class and the other as controlled class to start the experiment.The ex-perimental class uses the activity-based approach,and try to find out the advantages of activity-based approach of oral English teaching in vocational schools.Through looking up relevant literature and documents,standing on the previous experimental achievements,the author comes to the conclusion that the activitybased approach can improve students' oral English ability of the vocational schools,and it can be used in vocational schools.Meanwhile,the experiment also has it's weakness needs more people to study it.
