Research And Implementation Of An Online Examination System With Adaptive Features

The online examination system and the adaptive test system are two active research fields in computer aided teaching.The online examination system provides unified examination questions and can't reflect the true level of the candidates.The adaptive test system can measure the real ability of the candidates.But it is complex to construct the item bank and calculate those parameters.The main work of this thesis is to integrate adaptive feature into the online examination system,design and implement an examination system with adaptive features,in order to test the true level of the candidates.The main work of this thesis is as follows:(1)The adaptive online examination model SAFM(Self Adaptive Features Model)is designed,including selection strategy,termination rules and the item bank design.The basic idea is:the SAFM firstly begins with a set of items to obtain the initial information of the candidates,and then it will extensively test the relevant knowledge according to its selection strategy,until the test is finished.(2)The AFOMS(Oline Examination System with Adaptive Features)is designed based on SAFM,including identity authentication,online generating paper,online examination,grade evaluation,knowledge management and item bank management.With randomized algorithms and interaction with the teachers,it ensures that the randomly-choosing questions can fully cover all the knowledge points,in which the scores and knowledge-mastering level are calculated by the correct rate and difficulty level of those questions.(3)The AFOMS is realized based on JSP,Struts,Hibernate and String technology.The course of "operating system" is adopted as an experimental example to test its validity with multiple choice,single choice and true-or-false questions.The SAFM has been conducted and tested in the small-scale classrooms with satisfactory effects.The results show that the system can improve the enthusiasm and efficiency of the examinations.And furthermore,the test scores can effectively reflect the candidates' knowledge level.
