The purpose of this study is to examine the development of children's counting ability and the ability of addition and subtraction in 5-6 years old,and the relationship between the two Mathematical cognitive abilities.The research objects are from three ordinary kindergarten class of Tianjin,there are 166 children and they are chosen randomly(5-6 years old).The research take investigation methods,the tool of counting ability is based on the several parts of Zhenguo Zhao's number sense testing tool and children' s counting ability development level to adapted;The tool of addition and subtraction ability is established according to the development level of children's addition and subtraction ability.According to the reliability and validity test,the two tools have good reliability and validity.The study on the status of using descriptive statistical methods to examine the counting ability,addition and subtraction ability of the children aged 5-6;Using multivariate analysis of variance to examine the gender differences of children aged 5-6 years in the two mathematics cognitive ability;To examine the relationship between counting ability and addition and subtraction ability of children aged 5-6 by using correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis.Finally,the paper discusses the reason and the educational significance of development of 5-6 years old children's counting ability and addition and subtraction ability,and the relationship between them.The results show that the counting ability of children aged 5-6 years has been developed,but it is not as good as expected.The best result is the part of number corresponding,followed by the conservation of number and counting;5-6 years old children have a certain degree of addition and subtraction ability,the addition score is Significantly better than the subtraction score,Children can use a variety of strategies in addition and subtraction,the extraction strategy and counting fingers strategy are the most frequently used,followed by counting or reciprocal strategies,and the decomposition strategy and the inverse operation strategy are relatively few;The two mathematical cognitive ability of children shows significant gender differences,boys'grade is significantly higher than girls' grade,but sex is not the main factors of them;There is a significant correlation between counting,addition and subtraction ability of 5-6 years old children;And the two kinds of mathematical ability have significant predictive power of each other.According to the above conclusion put forward the following suggestions:break through the surface and mechanical training,to cultivate children's counting,addition and subtraction ability flexibly;Observing the children in daily life carefully,teaching children how to solve mathematical problems targeted;Pay attention to the relationship between preschool children's various mathematics ability,promote the overall development of mathematics cognitive ability.
