As clear, fluent and accurate oral English is a basic requirement for most English learners today, they are now attaching greater importance to oral English in China. But for the Chinese Mongolian Students(MSs)whose spoken English is learned following the first language and second language---Mongolian and Chinese, more challenges and difficulties are confronted in the process of learning spoken English due to the interlingual influence. In this paper, the author took MSs and Han Students(HSs)of the second grade in a middle school in Tongliao City as the subjects, investigating the present situation of their English oral abilities and analyzing the differences of their oral English abilities. This study is based on the Second Language Acquisition(SLA)theory and addresses the following three questions: 1)What is the current situation of the Mongolian and Han senior high school students’ oral English learning? 2)What are the pronunciation features of the Mongolian and Han senior high school students’ oral English and what are their phonetic differences? 3)What are the differences between the Mongolian and Han students’ oral English ability in terms of the senior high school on accuracy and fluency? In order to answer the above questions, the author conducts a questionnaire survey on 155 students and an interview test with 50 students. The author used SPSS17.0 to analyze the data. The results show that the MSs and HSs had not much difference in segmental features. In the aspect of suprasegmental features, because of the Mongolian transfer,MSs are used to putting the stress on the first syllable while the HSs tend to follow the word stress itself more naturally.By the proportion of the wrong pronounced words and the total pronounced words used between MSs and HSs,there is no significant difference between MSs and HSs in their oral English accuracy.According to the number of words used per minute and the frequencies of non-natural pauses,MSs are not as fluent in oral English as HSs.
