The acquisition of relative clause is very importance in middle school.It is the major grammar test task in the college entrance examination.A lot of studies on relative clause have been done in the field of second language acquisition by researchers home and abroad.However,the phenomenon of avoiding using relative clauses is prevalent in the second language acquisition due to the complex structure of relative clauses and their difference between English and Chinese.Therefore,this paper attempts to present and describe the acquisition of high school students' relative clause acquisition to some extent by analyzing the errors of high school students in the process of outputting English relative clause.The purpose of exploring the performance of avoidance phenomenon in the acquisition of English relative clause is to draw the attention of learners and teachers to the importance of the avoidance phenomenon.So that teachers and students can understand the avoidance phenomenon correctly and improve the effectiveness of teaching and learning the English relative clause.According to the related researcher in the literature,the relative clauses tested in this paper,which are divided into comprehensive test and output test,are all taken from the college entrance examination paper(Among which are four kinds of test questions: multiple choice,judgment,Sentence merge and translation).Then use One-way ANOVA analysis and two factors variance analysis and Simple effect to analyze the data.Above all,the features of the English relative clause acquisition for Chinese learners can be concluded as follows:The difficulty of acquisition of the order of four types of relative clause in high school English learning is inconsistent with the SOHH.The relative clause pattern of OS(Object-Subject)and OO(Object-Object)are easier to acquire and that learners deliberately avoid using subject clause.Besides,the avoidance phenomenon differentiates among learners at different English proficiency Levels.The higher the language proficiency,the less the avoidance Phenomenon occurs.In order to improve the relative clause acquisition of the high school students,it is necessary to innovate the grammar teaching in accordance with the difficulty orders of the relative clause.So as to improve the RC acquisition of the high school students.
