| At present,about 2 billion people learn English which has become one of the most widely used languages in the world.Mastering English means that you can directly gain rich information and have more opportunities to talk with the world.Therefore,learning English has become an important part of the world’s educational courses.As the enlightening stage for English learning,primary school is obviously of great importance.The purpose of the English courses in the primary school is to cultivate students’ good habits and positive emotions,so that students can get certain sense of language,good pronunciation and intonation in English study,which will lay a solid foundation for further learning.Therefore,pronunciation teaching in the primary stage of English learning becomes very important.With the constant deepening reform and development of English education,China’s English education in primary school has gained remarkable achievements.However,the ethnic minority areas has achieved little in English education,and especially characteristic studies on English learning for ethnic students are in weak position.Scholars are more concerned about the foreign language learning and second language acquisition,but pay little attention to trilingual teaching problems for minority students to learn a foreign language.Learning a foreign language for students in minority areas essentially possesses the feature of trilingual teaching.That is,native language,Chinese and English.Actually,trilingual teaching is the essential characteristics of English teaching in ethnic minority areas.However,in fact,this kind of studies on trilingual teaching in ethnic minority areas are still in a very weak situation.In Hainan,for example,viewing from the existing literature,there are few studies on trilingual learning for pupil in the Li and Miao nationality.For a long time,local teachers have neglected the complexity and uniqueness of English learning for pupil of the Li nationality with bilingual background.The influences of the transferring among the three languages of the Li ethnicity,the Han nationality and English have led to many special obstacles in the process of learning English pronunciation.Students transfer pronunciation habit of language which they are familiar to in the Li ethnicity into English pronunciation.They intend to reduce the difficulties of learning in English pronunciation.But this also bringsproblems of confusion in pronunciation and nonstandard intonation,which makes a lot of difficulties for learning English,leading to generally low English level for students of the Li ethnicity.Therefore,the study perspective is the problem of pronunciation teaching transferring interfering English learning in primary school of areas from the Li ethnicity.This study uses the methods of investigation and research,taking the English teachers and primary school students of Grade 5 and Grade 6 as the object in areas of the Li ethnicity in Hainan province.Through the observations in classroom,teacher interviews and student questionnaires,we can understand the difficulties of students’ learning about English pronunciation and teaching status in areas of the Li ethnicity.According to studies,this paper analyzes and thinks about problems about pronunciation teaching for primary school English in areas of the Li ethnicity.It also puts forward the countermeasures towards the pronunciation teaching from the perspectives of teachers,students and school in order to change the low quality of pronunciation teaching for primary school students. |
