Reflection is thought to play an important role in promoting meaningful learning and deep learning. Now online learning has become more and more important in higher education with the development of educational informatization. Therefore, how to promote the reflection in online learning has become the focus of the researchers.Firstly, the dissertation summarizes the relevant literatures at home and abroad,and investigates the application of reflection in the existing online learning platform.On the basis of previous researches and practical applications, this study conducts two quasi-experiments to explore the effects of reflection prompts embedded in interactive video on knowledge retention, knowledge transfer, cognitive load and learning satisfaction.The first quasi-experiment exams the effects of reflection prompts embedded in interactive video on learning outcomes. Results showed that the reflection prompt has a significant positive impact on knowledge transfer. However, there are no significant effect on knowledge retention, cognitive load and learning satisfaction. In addition,most learners think that the reflection prompt is helpful for their learning.The second quasi-experiment investigates the effects of different ways of reflection on online learning outcomes. Based on the previous researches, the author divides the subjects into two groups randomly, the thinking group and the writing group. Result shows that the way of writing can enhance students' achievement on knowledge transfer. Though, the two groups have no significant difference on knowledge retention, cognitive load and learning satisfaction. Through analyzing the reflection process,we find that the students in thinking group estimate of their learning outcome is low, the students in writing group can write more than one-third of learning content. Also, the reflection time of thinking group is less than 1 minute, and the reflection time of writing time are more than 2 minutes. In addition, almost all learners consider the reflection prompt is helpful for their learning.Finally, the author makes a summary of the study, combs the value and innovation,and present deficiencies and expectation. In this study,we only consider the first level of the reflection,future studies can take other levels of reflection into account.
