Research On The Contemporary University Students’ Constitution Consciousness Education

Constitutional consciousness,as a core of the whole legal consciousness and citizen consciousness,is a reflection of basic views and attitudes towards the Constitution and rule of law that a nation and its people have.The main contents of constitutional consciousness include consciousness of constitutional supremacy,people’s sovereignty consciousness,rights and obligations,democracy and equality.It is pointed out in the Forth Plenary Session of the Eighteenth CPC Central Committee that in order to push the policy of ruling by law,improving a constitution-centered socialist legal system with Chinese characteristics,enhancing its implementation and cultivating citizens with legal thinking is of great importance.College students are the important talents,serving as a national reserve force and cultivating their constitutional awareness comprehensively is an important content in the parts of citizens’ cultivation.This study,starting from the perspective of ideological and political education and under the instruction of basic principle of Marxism,has used the research theory of law,politics,education and sociology as reference,and then applied a combined method of both theoretical research and empirical study.After surveying and analyzing the constitutional awareness of college students,the study tries to explore effectively the method or ways of improving constitutional awareness of college students.The research shows that the constitutional awareness of college students are not going well.This may come from the problems of the society and college students.Meanwhile,the defects of the system may be accounting for another reason.Many efforts must be done in order to enhance the cultivation of constitutional awareness among college students.On one hand,college students and universities should make much more contributions in the ideological and political work.On the other hand,our country should establish and improve the corresponding systems to ensure the effectiveness of constitution.Meanwhile,the whole country must safeguard resolutely the constitutional authority.Specifically speaking,the state should perfect legislation,improve judicial relief system and put much more emphasis on the construction of law civilization.College ideological and political theory courses should strengthen the constitutional education and cultivate a campus cultural atmosphere with much focus on respecting the Constitution and maintain constitutional authority.Additionally,efforts should be done to help college students be aware of the importance of the Constitution,develop a firm belief towards the constitution,empower citizen’s ability,concentrate on the public political life with great passion and get involved into the state’s construction.
