| Teacher talk is a kind of language used by teachers in the teaching process.In English teaching,talk is a tool for teachers to impart knowledge,organize classroom teaching and carry out teaching plans,it is also an important channel for students’ language input.In China,English is a foreign language,in addition to the effective input provided by teachers in the classroom;students are more difficult to find other effective ways of input.Therefore,teacher talk plays an important role in the teaching process.For high school English teachers,one of the most important professional qualities is that they must master the skills and techniques of classroom talk.The new high school curriculum reform has implemented for 10 years,what is the level of effectiveness of classroom talk in a senior high school English teacher? What problems still exist? They are realistic problems to continue to push forward the reform of English Curriculum in senior high school.This study is based on the constructivism theory,social cultural theory;Krashen’s input hypothesis,Swain’s output hypothesis and Long’s negotiated interaction hypothesis.Based on the analysis of four high school English teachers’ classroom teaching and recording,the author uses the methods of classroom observation,data collection and literature analysis,convert some audio to text.The author researches the present situation of the effectiveness of classroom talk in senior high school English teachers from three aspects: the achievement of teaching objectives,the degree of participation of students in the classroom teaching,and the degree of support provided by teachers’ classroom talk to the students,she also puts forward some suggestions,in order to improve the effectiveness of English teachers’ talk in senior high school and improve their professional quality.The study results show that:1.Effective teacher talk can achieve teaching objectives.2.Effective teacher talk can reflect the students’ main position in the classroom.3.Effective teacher talk creates language learning opportunities for students.4.Effective teacher talk provides students with moderate adjustment.Based on the above findings and the relevant research results at home and abroad,this thesis also puts forward some suggestions on how to improve teachers’ talk:1.Design of teaching activities reasonably to achieve teaching objectives.2.Follow the principle of student-centered with teacher-based teaching aid.3.Increase referential questions appropriately in teacher questioning.4.Attach importance to teachers’ talk and improve the intelligibility of talk. |
