The Political Cartoon is the comment on the current affair in caricature form.It has the characteristics of caricature,news and comment.Not only can it vividly refract the characteristics of the times in the course of history,but also can profoundly indicate the author’s emotion,attitude and value orientation.An excellent political cartoon is a valuable historical material.This paper takes the Political Cartoon as the research object.The paper consists of three parts:introduction,main body and conclusion.The introduction includes the reasons for choosing the topic and the significance of the topic,the current status of the research,and the content and methods of the study.The main body is divided into three chapters.The first chapter studies the Political Cartoon and its application value.Starting from the characteristics of the Political Cartoon,this paper discusses the value of it on the cultivation of students’consciousness of time and space,the ability to prove history and the historical interpretation literacy.Thus,it expounds the significance of applying political cartoons in history teaching.The second chapter discusses the methods of the Political Cartoon’s selection and interpretation.From three perspectives of the standard as science,appropriateness and educational value,this paper consolidates the standard of choosing political cartoons.It also introduces the method of interpreting political cartoons from phenomenon to essence.The third chapter discusses the specific application of political cartoons in senior high school history teaching.Through case studies,this paper explores the effective way to apply political cartoons in basic courses,developmental courses and instructional evaluations.The conclusion makes a brief summary of this research,and puts forward the direction of future efforts.This paper argues that the Political Cartoon is a historical material.It is not only a kind of teaching resources,but also a kind of curriculum resources.The unjustified application to stimulate students’ interest does not allow high school students to acquire the qualities to serve lifelong development.The cultivation of students’ core qualities of history is the starting point and end point of the application of political cartoons.
