Reading as language input skill and writing as language output skill are interdependent and inseparable.Writing is the most important skill among the four skills of speaking,reading,listening and writing.However,teachers spend much time on students' English writing while students do not know how to write it.When students talk about English writing,they feel resistant and even anxious.Therefore,this study aims to study the teaching mode called reading-to write in English writing class in high school.110 students are chosen as subjects from two classes of Grade 3,No.8 Senior High School in YiNing.The subjects are divided into two groups.One is experiment class,which consists of 55 students,the other is controlled class,which consists of 55 students.The reading-to write teaching model is used in experiment class,while the traditional teaching model is used in control class.Based on Krashen Input Hypothsis Theory,Swain Output Hypothesis Theory and Long interactive Hypothesis theory,the comparative study on students' achievement in English writing and writing attitude has been conducted between experiment class and controlled class by mean of tests,questionnaires and interview.The study aims to answer the following questions:1.Can the teaching model of reading-to write improve students' scores in English writing in high school?2.Can the teaching model of reading-to write effectively change students' attitudes toward English writing in experimental class?After one semester's experiment,the results are showed as the following.First,the students' writing achievement has been improved by using reading-to write,which is reflected in lexical,syntax and discourse in students' compositions.Second,the teaching model of reading-to write has some effect on students' attitudes in the experimental class.Students were satisfied with the teaching model of reading-to write.In a word,the result of the study has brought useful enlightenment to English teaching.Teachers should make full use of the teaching materials and integrate English reading teaching into writing teaching reasonably and scientifically so as to improve students' English writing ability.
