| Scientific inquiry is an important topic in the current world science education, and all countries attach great importance to inquiry teaching. It can be seen that scientific inquiry is the main way to cultivate students’ scientific literacy and has reached consensus around the world."Scientific Inquiry" has become one of the most frequently used technical terms in science education. Therefore,it is of great significance to carry out the investigation and research on the level of scientific inquiry and understanding of the sixth grade students in elementary schools.Through the literature research method, this research has combed the relevant research on the scientific inquiry view at home and abroad, and provided the theoretical basis for the development of this project. The scientific inquiry theory of Judith S.Lederman and Norman G.Lederman is the theoretical basis of the study.Through the questionnaire survey method, the questionnaire survey was conducted in eight dimensions, and the level of understanding of scientific inquiry was obtained by 50 sixth graders. The interview method was used to get an in-depth understanding of the six typical students’ understanding of the scientific inquiry, and preliminarily analyzed the main factors affecting the level of scientific inquiry understanding of the sixth grade students. The results show that the level of understanding of scientific inquiry is not ideal in the sixth grade of primary school, and the level of understanding is uneven in all dimensions. Not the ideal is the second dimension(Scientific research there is no single method),the fourth dimension(All scientists who perform the same exploratory steps may not get the same results),the seventh dimension(Scientific data is different from scientific evidence),understanding is more on the level of simplicity and needs to be improved;Ideally, the third dimension(The process of inquiry is guided by problems),most students understand that the problem determines the process choice.Based on the above research results,in order to improve students’ understanding of scientific inquiry, this paper puts forward the following Suggestions: first, reduce class sizeand equip with scientific assistants;Second,Combining online and offline training to update teachers’ views on scientific inquiry;third,Carry out colorful exploration activities;fourth,Like to learn and be good at learning, independent inquiry, diligent in reflection. To explore the effective strategies for improving students’ views on scientific inquiry, aims to guide teachers to scientific inquiry teaching, improve the teachers’ and students’ scientific literacy,as well as the subsequent research groundwork,is advantageous to the construction of "understanding" science inquiry into order. |
