Writing plays an important role in English learning,especially in senior high school.Writing in English for senior 3 students has always been a tough nut to crack.At the same time,approaches to task-based writing is also one of the focuses of English teaching.It is obvious that students meet with many writing problems.In order to improve students' writing proficiency,one feasible way is to enhance comprehensible language input,and teachers should expose students to diverse reading materials.English Weekly can offer students rich information and idiomatic language.And it is a tryout to develop senior 3 students' task-based writing proficiency by reading English Weekly in class.In order to meet the requirements of the new reformation of English teaching in English Curriculum Standards,English teachers begin to introduce varieties of teaching materials and media to class in addition to traditional teaching materials.As a precious teaching resource,English Weekly is very practical to cultivate students' writing proficiency.Based on language input theory,language output theory and schema theory,the thesis reports an empirical study of training senior 3 students' task-based writing proficiency by reading English Weekly.The results of the study may have a positive effect on cultivating students' writing proficiency and play a crucial role in guiding senior 3 students to better writing.The study compares the experimental class with the controlled class.The experimental class consists of 45 students,while the controlled class is made up of 44 students.The scores of the pre-test and post-test are collected and analyzed by virtue of the SPSS in order to find out the changes of students' task-based writing accomplishments.After the experiment,one questionnaire is used to collect the data about the attitudes towards training students' writing proficiency by reading English Weekly.The results show that reading English Weekly can arouse students' interest and motivation.Second,English Weekly is a very practical teaching material and it can activate students' schemata.By comprehensible language input,students can gain more comprehensible language output.Above all,students' task-based writing proficiency is improved conspicuously.
