English learning in senior high school is concerned with extensive language knowledge and various skills,which increases students’ learning pressure.Therefore,there is an inevitable phenomenon that high school students always make errors in English learning process.However,error reflects the difficulties and deficiencies in students’ daily studying,and it is the feedback of every stage of learning,which is a kind of necessary learning resource.So,English error management is very important in the process of learning English.On the one hand,it not only can help students develop their learning potential and form effective learning strategies,but also it is beneficial to improve the ability of autonomous learning.On the other hand,teachers can adjust their teaching plan and improve the teaching efficiency based on the analysis of students’ errors.This study includes three research questions: 1.What is the attitude of high school students to English error management? 2.How do students manage their errors in their daily study? 3.What do teachers think of the error management and how do teachers guide students to manage errors?The participants of the study are 200 students from different grades and the 32 teachers in Yantai No.3 Middle School with the instruments of questionnaire,interview and text analysis.The data from the questionnaires are analyzed by SPSS(20.0).The interview is carried out in Chinese and the results are transcribed into English.The text analysis of error notebooks was also presented in this paper in English.Through this study,the following conclusions are made: firstly,most of the students in senior high school have positive attitudes towards errors and error management.Secondly,most of students lack the systematic and proper error management strategies of managing the errors and appropriate error management actions,and there are a few students who have proper strategies.All the students have notebooks that are used to collect errors.Students like to write down the errors on their notebooks in order to review whenever and wherever in daily study.Thirdly,teachers have positive attitude towards errors and error management,but half of the teachers think that error management is important for English teaching.Most of the English teachers have realized the importance of managing errors,and most of teachers encourage students to manage English errors.What’s more,teachers just advise students to have error notebooks instead of teaching them how to manage and organize errors in detail.They don’t teach students enough systematic guidance and proper strategies.However,most of the teachers can give a lot of suggestions on error management to students and advise students to review their errors over and over again.In addition,the teachers lack strong supervision and they can’t supervise the students in time.
