English is one of large-scale examinations of the NCEE,which is the most influential foreign language examination.It has a specific guiding significance for English teaching and learning to make a survey about the washback effects of types in NMET on high school English teaching and learning.The theoretical bases of this survey are Alderson and Wall's Washback Hypothesis and a basic model of washback come up by Bailey.It combines qualitative and quantitative methods to make a survey on the washback effects of grammar completion type on English grammar teaching and learning in the researcher's school.The subjects of questionnaire are 120 students who come from grade three.10 English teachers participate in interview.After the survey,SPSS19.0 is used to analyze questionnaires.It manifests from the questionnaire:(1)Students keep a positive attitude towards grammar learning.For students,grammar completion gives them more pressure to motivation,because NMET plays a vital role in their future life.Grammar completion has both positive and negative effects on students.(2)Considering learning contents and learning methods,both of them have a positive washback on students.Having gone through the specialized training,students in grade three would pay more attention to the cohesion and coherence of a context and they can analyze and apply grammars in specific situation,which can improve their comprehensive application ability of English language.(3)In terms of using test-taking skills,grammar completion type has a negative washback on students.The interview shows:(1)Teachers keep a positive attitude towards grammar teaching,for grammar completion type can promote teachers to teach and reflect.(2)In grammar teaching contents and methods,grammar completion type presents a positive washback.Teachers concentrate on improving students' ability of language learning.(3)However,the negative washback can be seen from the teaching of test-taking skills.In a word,the positive washback of grammar completion type in NMET surpasses the negative washback of grammar completion type in NMET.What we can learn from the results is that making full of the positive washback of grammar completion type in NMET to promote English grammar teaching and learning in high school.
