In the 1990 s,western scholars put forward the theory of multimodal discourse analysis.Based on the theory of multimodal discourse analysis,many researchers raised the multimodal teaching mode.Multimodal teaching mode introduces multiple modal symbols in class,in this way to activate classroom atmosphere and stimulate students' sensory systems.This teaching mode can make people more impressive than a single interpretation of the language,and students can improve their memory ability faster.It also makes up for the lack of a single teaching mode.At present,the empirical research on the application of multimodal teaching model to English vocabulary teaching in senior high schools still needs to be strengthened at home.Applying multimodal English vocabulary teaching to senior high schools,this experiment mainly addresses the following two problems:(1)Does multimodal teaching mode improve the effect of senior high schools students' vocabulary learning?(2)What is the attitude of students to the multimodal English vocabulary teaching mode?In view of the above research problems,the author takes two classes(class 1 and class2)in the first grade of a senior high school in Ji'nan as the research groups,with a total of97 students.Class one is selected as the experimental class and class two is regarded as the control one.The experimental class adopts multimodal teaching mode to learn vocabulary,while the control class still employs traditional teaching method.In the course of the experiment,interview,vocabulary test and questionnaire were used,and the results were analyzed by SPSS17.0.The steps of the research are interview,pre-test,teaching experiment,post-test,questionnaire,data collection and processing,analysis and discussion of the results of the research.Through analyzing results of pre-test and post-test,the author found that the students' vocabulary test results are closely related to the teachingmodel of the teachers.After using the multimodal vocabulary teaching model in the experimental class,the vocabulary achievement has been significantly improved.The results of questionnaire show that multimodal vocabulary teaching mode has a positive effect on promoting students' interest in learning,learning attitude and learning motivation,and students prefer this mode of vocabulary teaching.Finally,it can be concluded that multimodal teaching mode can improve the learning effect of English vocabulary for senior high school students.Students hold the positive attitude to multimodal teaching mode and most students like multimodal teaching mode.
