A pre-chapter drawing is a picture designed by the textbook's author prior to the beginning of each chapter of the textbook, which is relevant to the content of this chapter. At the top of the picture is a text description. The picture is usually referred to as the pre-chapter drawing, and the description is called the chapter introduction. The appearance of the prechapter map is a major feature of the new textbook, which enriches the teaching materials. This paper is aimed at the characteristics of the pre-chapter drawing and the current situation of use of the junior high school mathematics textbook. In this paper, the characteristics of the pre-chapter map are analyzed by literature research and questionnaire survey, and the present situation of the use of the pre-chapter map is studied. The author also puts forward some suggestions to teachers' teaching and textbook compilers in the light of the present situation.Through the study of the pre-chapter drawing of junior high school mathematics,we find that there are four categories of the pre-chapter map: life scene class, natural scenery class, urban landscape class, ancient architecture class. The distribution characteristics of prechapter graph types are analyzed from the angles of number and algebra, space and graph, statistics and probability. In order to understand which disciplines are reflected in the prechapter chart, the pre-chapter map is analyzed.we found that each chapter of the pre-chapter map reflects a certain degree of discipline literacy. In order to know the use of the pre-chapter chart by teachers and students, this paper adopts questionnaire survey method. The survey found that teachers had a one-sided understanding of the function of the pre-chapter drawing. This is the root cause of teachers and students' neglect of the chart before the chapter. In view of this situation, this study puts forward some suggestions for teachers' teaching.Teachers should change their views on the pre-chapter drawing; The teacher should apply the drawing before the chapter skillfully;teachers teach the students to read the chart before the chapter. The survey shows that most students are interested in the pre-chapter drawing, while some students are not interested in the pre-chapter chart. On the one hand, students are not interested in the type of prechapter graph,on the other hand, they do not understand the meaning of pre-chapter graph. In view of this situation, suggestions are made to the teachers and the authors of the textbooks. The teachers should teach the students to read the picture before the chapter.Textbook writers should be able to enrich the types of pre-chapterdrawings.According to the characteristics of students' cognitive development and students' psychological development, choose pictures that students are interested in and can read. The author of the textbook should consider whether the selection of the prechapter chart is compatible with the content of this chapter and the introduction.
