In modern industrial production, the requirement for position measurement system is larger and larger, and the request is also higher and higher, therefore researchers have developed a variety of sensors to satisfy the requirements of the market. The planar inductive position sensor studied in this thesis is a new type of position sensor, which has advantages of compact structure, low cost, simple manufacture, high precision, strong anti-interference capability and reliability in harsh environment. In spite of that, there are only several foreign companies who begin to study the sensor and its decoding system at present.This thesis studies and designs a novel decoding system based on planar inductive position sensor. Compared with the existed system, the novel decoding system makes the following breakthroughs and innovations. First, solve the problems of high frequency carrier and capacitance coupling brought by the new sensor. Second, solve the nonlinear problems which may reduce the conversion accuracy. Last, this system has faster response time and higher tracking accuracy. In a word, this system takes full advantage of the new sensor, and makes up for its shortcomings, which could make the new sensor be applied in actual industrial production.First, this thesis compares the principle and characteristic of several kinds of prevailing position sensors, and raises the advantages and prospects of the new planar inductive position sensor. Then, this thesis studies several mainstream signal processing schemes and decoding algorithms, analysis several sensor decoding systems of several companies abroad and at home, and compares their advantages and disadvantages. According to the characteristic of the new sensor, this thesis learns from the existed decoding system, and put forward a new kind of decoding system.The new decoding system designed in this thesis includes two parts, signal processing circuit and decoding algorithm. First of all, this thesis demonstrates the ability of signal processing circuit to filter the high frequency carrier and coupling signal theoretically, and compared with the traditional algorithm, verifies the advantages of the proposed algorithm about solving the nonlinear problem, reducing the response time and increasing the accuracy. Then, this thesis introduces the hardware and software design of the system in detail. At last, this thesis provides experimental waveforms and data to prove the feasibility and effectiveness of the system.
