With the rapid development of computer technology, the dissemination of information break through the limitations of time and space, information technology began to gain popularity in various fields. Information technology subtly changed people’s life, work and study all the time. With the unceasingly progressing method and approach to acquire knowledge, educational pattern and method changed a lot.In the environment of increasing popularity of network technology, online learning platform began to be generalized and be recognized in the various colleges and universities. Online test and examination system as part of an online teaching platform has also been developed rapidly.In recent years, with the increasing enrollment of colleges and universities and the popularation of education in many areas, the quantity of students is increasing each year. Traditional testpapers consume a large number of human and material resource. Testpaper printing consumes a lot of paper resource. Testpapers storage occupies a lot of space. Testpaper correction consumes a lot of time and energy of the teachers. From a time perspective, the efficiency is relatively low. Compared with traditional assignment and examination, online test and examination system shows noticeable advantages in many ways. On the one hand, the establishment of question bank saves the time of assigning questions and composing and the storage of electronic information saves a lot of space resource compared with traditional storage of testpapers. On the other hand, all the teachers and students will be able to use the system conveniently wherever the network reaches. The mechanical functions of correcting, arranging and even analyzing emancipate teachers from hard physical work and save a lot of human resource. Because of these advantages, online test and examination system are applied and popularized quickly.This paper analyzes the development of online testing and examination system, points out the current shortcomings of such a system. The most worthy point is that most platforms lack of disciplinary versatility which can support most subjects, especially the engineering drawing course which has a large number of pictures.This paper presents a more versatile online testing and examination system which can support most subjects including engineering drawing courses.In teaching, the purpose is to create a platform for secondary teaching. The establishment of this system is to improve teaching quality and efficiency; in engineering graphics context, the aim of establishing an auxiliary teaching tool is to help test students’knowledge of basic concepts, projection feature and international standards and promote students’ability to interpret drawings.This work is the essential teaching part of blended learning mode of "Engineering Drawing" course.Designed with the dual function of learning and testing, this system achieves test paper customization, exam time customization, intelligent correction, random questions extraction, score display and test analysis.This system is based on Windows Server 2003. Development language PHP, server software Apache, B/S framework, background database MySQL are used for this system to develop an online test and examination system that is convenient to use for the teachers and students, and improve the quality and efficiency of teaching, provide high-quality service for education.
