The flexible morphology based on the classical mathematical morphology, it has a complete and strict mathematical basis. In addition, compared with the classical mathematical morphology, has stronger robustness,anti-noise, anti-interf-erence ability has a prominent role. Introduced flexible morphology to the color image processing, using basic mathematical morphological operation is suitable for the flexible morphology in different color space,then it can easily deduced some other practical algorithm, used to enhance image, edge detection, image segmen-tation and so on all aspects of the color image processing.Summary and analysis about classic image processing algorithms. Promote it to the flexible morphology, to convert color space image color distortion caused by inaccurate, excessive enhancement, edge detection and noise problems, choose appropriate color space, correction grayscale image enhancement algorithm to color space; By improving color image edge detection, noise, detailed and complete continuous color image; In addition, applied to digital Dun Huang frescoes in the image, and has perfect using value to color images edge.Thesis main work includes the following four aspects :First of all, collecting the mathematical morphology theory, studies the application of mathematical morphology in digital image processing. Different color space for color images, the experiment to compare different color space, the test effect of morphological image processing algorithms, choose the best color space, and will promote flexible morphology algorithm to color space.Second, improve and promote a flexible morphology of color image enhancement algorithms; To directed against excessive enhance image histogram equalization algorithm, the short comings of details is missing, combined with flexible morphology, take advantage of the double histogram equalization algorithm to solve the color image histogram equalization algorithm to enhance the color information loss and distortion of image excessive, and flexible morphologyalgorithm is simple and beautiful, accelerated the speed of image processing.Moreover, put forward a kind of color image edge detection algorithm based on soft mathematical morphology, using of the advantages of flexible morphological operator noise resistance, and small scale operator improve and filter out noise and edge to solve the problem of coarse edges in HSI color space and color was obtained with the original image after it, eventually get better continuous color edge.Finally, extend and improve the color image enhancement and edge detection algorithm in protection and restoration of cultural relics and exploration on the application, which is the crossover study of information science and the protection of cultural relics. Selection of test images and DunHuang frescoes digital image carries on the corresponding processing, experiments show that image enhancement and color edge detection algorithm is of great help to further aided repair for the protection of cultural relics.
