Real-time SAR/GMTI Signal Processing Based On TMS320C6678

Through the work mechanism and different processing algorithms, modern imaging radar can be divided into synthetic aperture radar(SAR) and inverse synthetic aperture radar(ISAR). Imaging and GMTI are two major functions of unmanned aerial vehicle(uav) radar, so uav radar is also called the SAR/GMTI radar.SAR/GMTI Radar has the characteristics of all-weather, all-time, long range and high-resolution in both range and azimuth direct. As important functions, SAR imaging and GMTI has been widely used in military and civilian fields.With the improvement of SAR imaging algorithms and development of digital signal processing technologies, the real-time processing of SAR/GMTIradar echo and high-resolution imaging become new research directions.This paper is based on the new DSP chip to realize real-time SAR/GMTI signal processing.In order to meet the requirements of wide communication bandwidth, complex computation and fast speed of operation in radar signal processing,real-time SAR imaging and real-time GMTI is realized by the SAR/GMTI real-time signal processing software which is running on the new type digital signal processor——TMS320C6678.Real-time SAR/GMTI signal processing software can be divided into I/O software and signal processing software.As a part of the SAR/GMTI radar, SAR/GMTI real-time signal processing software is mainly used for reconnaissance and acquiring target information.SAR/GMTI real-time signal processing software support multiple real-time working modes such as belt mode, bunching modes and GMTI mode. The resolution of bunching mode is 0.2 m. Banding modescontain multiple resolutions: 3m, 1m, 0.5m, 0.3 m and 0.2 m.TMS320C6678 is a digital signal processor with high performance and have wealth resources. In order to give full play to its performance, TI company offers many libraries with high processing speed.But these are not enough to meet our requirements. For instance, the librariesonly provides real vector operating functionssuch as addition and multiplication, but does not provide similar plural operating functions. And radar echo is plural data, plural operation function is frequently used when data processing.To solve the above mentioned problems, we built our own library. So after the SAR/GMTI real-time signal processing software is introduced in detail, the author also introduces the method of the software programmingand the structure and characteristics of TMS320C6678.
