3D design process is widely used in industry. In order to achieve the online browsing of 3D process model, the online visualization system for 3D process model is needed. The architecture and function modules of the system are designed based on the requirements of online viewing of the 3D process model.The mainly research work and achievements are the follow points:1) The architecture and function modules of the system are established to meet the requirements of the 3D process model’s online viewing.2) The format of the 3D process lightweight file is defined by researching the technology of 3D process lightweight model. The method that creates the 3D process lightweight file is put forward. A method is put forward to compress inter-process models by removing the repeated segments of triangular facets between different inter-process models. And a method of dimensioning modeling is put forward to express the 3D process dimensioning through structured files.3) A technology of sharing geometric models between different assembly process files is used to optimize network transmission of assembly process files. The method is achieved by the technology of logistic regression.4) According to the previous research, the online visualization system for 3D process model is developed by the technologies such as HOOPS, ActiveX control, MFC and other function modules. The online visualization system for 3D process model is verified effectively through some examples.
