The successful operation of the first Antarctic expediton supporting device symbolizes a fantastic breakthrough in the research of the Antarctic expediton supporting platform. The monitoring system of the platform needs further improvements to meet new demands in the second phase of this project.First of all, the overall design of the software architecture is made to improve the applicability, effectiveness, scalability and maintainability of this project. Clearly parted general framework decouples the business logic level from the common libraries and easy understandable structure can improve the efficiency of software development. Then, Iridium Openport is choosed as the satellitic communication tool and the Transmission Control Protocol is adopted to achieve a reliable communication channel. The design of the communication framework is based on the Reactor pattern, which separates the business logic from the general framework and enjoys a good performance. The business logic modules are all on the basis of the Reactor pattern, with the data acquisition module being abstracted as timing events and the communicating module being abstracted as network events. Protobuf is used to define the communication protocol between the domestic and the Antarctic. In addition, both C/S structure and B/S structure are adopted to display user-friendly interface of the system. Bootstrap is introduced to implement the responsive web design. At last, every module of the Antarctic monitoring server is tested separately and the entire system is tested as a whole. Test results show that the system meets the designed performance index of the Antarctic monitoring system.
