| While the development of distance education is increasingly recognized by the society, many people, who failed to complete their studies within the prescribed time or had no chance to finish college or university studies, take the distance education(online education) to upgrade their qualifications. The 68 modern distance education colleges and universities have developed higher education for more than 10 years and have cultivated millions of students and graduates. Because distance learning is not the traditional teaching mode, students don’t go to the classroom to meet their teachers for the interactive learning. Thus, it seems to be particularly important to provide good teaching resources and personalized learning support services for these studentsThis paper firstly introduces the derivative product of distance education-- mobile learning platform, and the definition, features and the form of mobile learning. Then it introduces the design and framework of mobile learning platform of online education in Shanghai Jiao Tong University Continuing School. Then it expounds each function of the platform and analyzes the learning habits of students for many years through data mining techniques, which contributes to the design of mobile learning platform to make it meet the students’ individualized needs and learning habits and enable it to work in mobile devices.Then the paper, based on the mobile learning platform, carries on the research of data mining, in order to improve the inadequacies of the platform designed at the beginning, such as the platform function module failing to be designed to apply to the mobile intelligent equipment. The paper also finds out the learning habits of students while using mobile intelligent equipment. The main tasks of this paper are as follows:1). Mining the data of the use of mobile learning platform in school of continuing education of Shanghai Jiao Tong University for 2 semesters. Firstly, we collected the data of learning on mobile learning platform during the test running, and then by using the Apriori correlation algorithm, we mined the strong correlations in the frequently used learning function modules, and based on learning habits and learning modes, the learning function modules of m-learning are rearranged to form a new platform, so that students can easily find the learning module to enter, and it also reduces the network flow for those who use 3G network, adds comfort of using mobile learning platform, and meanwhile provides a theoretical basis for improving and humanizing mobile learning platform.2) After the mobile learning platform is promoted, we collected data of students’ using mobile learning platform in each grade for a whole semester. Based on the time period of video playing and downloading, by using the Apriori correlation algorithm and strong correlation rules, we then discovered the time period of frequent playing and downloading videos. Through this analysis, we found out the learning habits in the use of mobile learning platform and drew a conclusion for system administrator’s reference while updating and maintaining the system.To sum up, the data mining technology in distance education has its unique features, and should become one of the research fields that attracts every distance education staff to study. |
