The guideline and theory of product design comes from practice and is verified in the practice of products development. The acoustic quality is critical to the performance of a wireless phone. And the acoustic quality is basically defined by the acoustic structur e.The main purpose of this thesis is to study the acoustic structure with the engineering samples of wireless phone. To optimize the acoustic structure, the experiments are designed to analysize the engineering samples and the related actions are taken to improve and verify the conclusions.Firstly, the background and the purpose of this thesis are illustrated and the development history of the modern telecommunication industry and the wireless phones are mentioned. The five factors are introduced:Frequency response, Harmonic distortion, Speech transmission index(STI), Loudness and Sidetone.Secondly, the overall schemes of cordless phone's acoustic system are designed and the ideas of Cut-off Frequency are introduced. When the cut-off frequency covers the one of each component, we can judge that the acoustic effect is acceptable. Based on this concept, the details design for Base and Handset is complished including ID outlines, Microphones, speakers, receivers.Thirdly, Based on the design of cordless phone's acoustic system, FEA is available to analysize and optimize the products. HS Front is the key component to analysize the performance of Handset's receiver and Base Bottom is the key component for Base's speaker system. The complex Force-displacement system and structure are simplized to have a clear and efficient analysis. The weakness of product design is found out and solutions are given to improve the products. The measurement methods are designed and developed according to the current international standards. The data are determined and recorded in details for sample A and B for the typical structure including the Microphone of the wired handset, the receiver of the wireless handsetthe Microphone of the base unit, the receiver of the wired handset, the receiver of the wireless handset. Analysis and summary are done to find out the key factors which affect the performance of the acoustic performance based on studying the abundant data. Finally, the improvement plans are determined and verified through the comparison experiments so that the purpose of optimizing the acoustic structure design is achieved.
