Although the demand of security check in public areas keeps increasing, the product of security network system is rare in existing security solutions. Currently, the development of networking technology provides a solid foundation to the implementation of it. During the design of security network system, the efficiency of data transmission and real-time control should be taken into consideration. As a consequence, the research on compression of X-ray inspection security image has become an important issue.This thesis is focused on the design of security network and compression technology of X-ray inspection security image.Design of a security network solution is provided in this thesis. Firstly, current application of networking in security check system is analyzed. Then a complete design of networking system for security check solution is given. This design includes appropriate networking alternatives in different application scenario:system based on LAN and system based on VPN. The realization of network connection between each equipment and the central server makes the long-distance transmission of security check data and files possible. At the end of server, there is an intuitive user interface which can provide in-time state of equipment in the system. The automatic analyze and reports of whole system is also included in the design.The compression technology of X-ray inspection image is discussed in detail in this thesis. Image compression can improve the ability of data storage and effectiveness of data transmission in security network system. But current image compression technology cannot be applied to compression of X-ray inspection image efficiently due to its special characteristics. Improvements have been made in this thesis to deal with those characteristics. As a result, two compression methods based on Discrete Cosine Transform and Discrete Wavelet Transform are presented respectively in this thesis. Both methods use Principle Component Analyze as pre-process progress to deal with correlation redundancy of X-ray image. Experiment has been conducted to analyze both methods.
