Power And Identity:The Two Dimensions Of Archives And The Construction Of Social Memory

Memory is the witness and reappearance of the experiences for individuals and groups,and is the foundation to establish their own consciousness and identity.Archives are produced in the process of social production,which is an important resource for building social memory,and the archives work have a very important effect on social memory construction through a series of management and development measures.This paper thoroughly studies the role of power and identity in the process of the construction of social memory,explore the way to cut power negative intervention,the way to establish identity,and the way to build a comprehensive,authentic,balanced social memory.In this paper,the introduction part studies in the system and content analysis with files of the past research results,summarizes the existing research achievement and the insufficiency,provides this study a reference and thinking.The main body of this article starts from the foundation,based on the origin and development of archives,and probes into the relationship between archives and social memory.Archives are the records of social memory,and social memory is constructed through archives and archival work.There are two dimensions that are rarely involved in the current study—the power and identity enter the study of the construction of social memory.The third chapter studies the power intervention in archives and archives work,power intervention’s influence,and the way to weaken the power intervention’s negative influence.The fourth chapter discusses the traditional organization centered archives work’s advantages,ways and deficiencies of constructing identity,and thus lead to non-traditional archives work.The fifth chapter puts the goals of social memory,analyse the problems in the process of the archives work in the construction of social memory,and explore the ways to building a comprehensive,authentic and balanced social memory.
