Reporters’ Recognition Of Journalistic Professionalism In Transformation Of The Newspaper Industry

Journalistic professionalism,which claims the news objectivity,press freedom,social responsibility and media independence,is both one of the basic Western press concepts and the professional ethics in media practice.In our country,the combine of journalistic professionalism and situation get the new connotation.With the development of media technology,the new media era has already come,the media environment and patterns are changing,newspaper as the representative of traditional media begin to explorer ways of convergence and transformation,the concept of journalistic professionalism is under a brand new context,which means it is necessary for us to re-examine the journalistic professionalism.During this period,the traditional media practitioners become anxious about their career.As the professional news practitioners,will their journalism change in the face of rapid changes in the media environment?Therefore,the author spent one year to interview 32 reporters in 13 departments of Changjiang Daily,specifically to solve the following problems:(1)what are the changes about journalistic professionalism during the period of media convergence?(2)How does the cognitive changes of reporters’ journalistic professionalism influence the journalistic professionalism?(3)How to insist on journalistic professionalism in the period of media convergence?This paper summarizes the depth interviews records of 32 journalist’s journalistic professionalism,explains the effects of Changjiang Daily’s transformation on journalistic professionalism,from the professional news agencies,news concept,occupation role and education.Reporters’ cognitive on professional news agency:changing the traditional media monopoly position,adjust in internal structure of media,changing post because of the transformation;Reporters’ cognitive on news concept:higher demands on news timeliness objectivity,different emphasis on news value,multi-media forms of the news product;Reporters’ cognitive on occupation role:the hitherto unknown pressure of competition and survival;Reporters’ cognitive on education:the internal training and reporters’active training.Through deep interviews,the author draws the following findings:the practice of journalism need reconstruction support of media convergence;reporters strengthen the news occupation education due to their own occupation role crisis.According to these findings,the author put forward a series of countermeasures:newspaper as organizations should accelerate the speed of convergence and transformation;reporters need to pay more attention to professionalism specification;professional institutions should provide skills trainings for multi-media transformation;reporters should maintain news ideal,adhere to the conception that "content is the king".
