With the advent of the information age,more and more consumer electronics products began to use TFT-LCD display screen.Consumers’ requirements for the display is also increasing,which also gives TFT-LCD driver control chip performance even more big challenge.Electronic products are increasingly thin and the display screen resolution is also getting higher and higher.At present,the speed of the parallel data interface of the display driver chip is relatively low,which can not meet the requirement of high resolution image transmission.At the same time,the high power consumption of the chip also shortens the use time of the electronic products.This paper mainly studies and designs a high-speed serial data interface for liquid crystal display driver chip,which can improve the data transmission rate of the driver chip.In addition,a dynamic backlight adjustment algorithm is designed to reduce the power consumption of display screen.Firstly,the display principle and driving principle of the liquid crystal display screen are analyzed in detail.Then,aiming at the problem that the parallel data transmission interface is too low,through research and learning MIPI standard interface,a kind of serial data transmission interface based on MIPI protocol specification is designed,the interface supports three work modes,respectively,high-speed data transmission mode,low-speed data transmission mode and ultra-low power mode,these modes can be used for different work scenes,which can not only improve the data transfer rate,but also can reduce the power consumption of the interface module.The interface module is designed by Verilog HDL hardware description language,DC is used and the simulation results including power and area meet the design requirements.Secondly,this paper proposes a dynamic backlight adjustment algorithm for the problem of high power consumption.This algorithm achieves the purpose of saving power by reducing the brightness of the backlight and adjusting the display gray scale of the LCD panel without changing the display effect.In addition,this paper also designed several simple image enhancement algorithm module,you can adjust the screen’s white balance,color and contrast.The algorithmic part uses Matlab for preliminary design and simulation,and then uses Verilog HDL hardware description language to design.Finally,taped out by Powerchip’s 0.11μm standard CMOS process,and the chip is packaged through the COB and COF packaging processes.The packaged chip is tested onthe screen,use the oscilloscope to verify the various functions of the MIPI interface,the effect of dynamic backlight adjustment algorithm is verified by using luminance meter and ammeter,at the same time,the image enhancement algorithm is also verified.The test results show that the data channel of the interface designed in this paper can reach 826.4Mbps,and the image enhancement algorithm can improve the display effect dynamically.The dynamic backlight adjustment algorithm can make the backlight power Save 29% to 65% under different display contents.
