With the assistance of continuously advanced optical fiber technology,optical fiber sensing technology develops rapidly. Fiber sensor is widely used in various fields and regarded as a criterion to evaluate the level of social informatization.In recent years, we have established a distributed temperature optical fiber sensing system based on Stimulated Brillouin effect. Using this sensor,we can detect the drawback of a fiber system with many merits such as high sensitivity, multi-detection, tiny size, economization, anti-corrosion.We have further established a software system to optimize the sensing system by enhancing the accuracy of data analysis. The software system consists of two parts, the local server and remote user interface. Local server processes the original temperature data from remote fiber sensor automatically, then displays the results to user interface.The main content of this article is the development of local system. As the advantage of optical fiber sensor such as tiny size and flexible, we choose embedded platform and OMAP138 chipset designed by TI (Texas Instruments) as local system. OMAP138 is a dual-core chipset, it is composed by an ARM core and a DSP core. The ARM core is the central pivot of the embedded platform, it controls all of the processes. The DSP core translates the original temperature data to human identifiable data accurately, it is a key point for sensor system. The ARM core notifies the FPGA and trigger a data acquisition firstly. When The DSP core receive the original data from the FPGA, it analysis the original temperature by specific algorithm immediately. The DSP core will notify the ARM core as soon as the analysis completed, and then the ARM core can get the processed data from the shared memory directly and sent it to the remote system.Agile development process is used in the development of local sy stem,every unit of the system was tested. Finally the whole system was integrated tested. The result of test reveals that most functions of the system is worked, but some functions still has the room for improvement.
