The Wave glider is one of the advanced marine observation platform.The development of marine observation platforms has great significance.It is the need of not only the marine observation technology but also the national marine strategy.Compared with the other marine observation platforms,the Wave glider has the ability of large-scale and long-time gliding.And the other can’t do this.It has broad application prospects in the research of marine biology,the monitoring in water quality and so on.The Wave glider is consisted of three parts:the boat,the mooring and the driver.We design the other two kinds of drivers creatively based on the existing driver.Through these researches,we get the new ideas for the Wave glider in the future.This article start from the driver by wings,and the driver changes from the rigid wings to the flexible flippers.Combined with the traditional propeller-driven approach,we proposed the design requirements of the three kinds of drivers.We do lots of research such as setting up the 3D model of the drivers,and conducting the hydrodynamic simulation and do pool experiment.Through adjusting the parameters of the drivers,we compared their performance in the water.Based on complex hydrodynamic theory,we set up the 3D model of the drivers by Solidworks and setting up the kinetic equation by simplifying the model.We have done the simulation analysis combined ANSYS CFX,and got the forward thrust of every driver.In addition,we build a platform using in the pool for simulating the wave stating condition.For simulating the process of the carrier moving up and down,we design a series of PLC(Programmable Logic Controller)programs.And a servo motor is controlled by the PLC programs.The motor is fixed on the platform,and set the input by the PLC.The platform is equipped with the different kinds of carriers.We just record the time and distance of the platform’s moving process,and calculate the speed of the platform.So we can know which one is the fastest,and also we can get the driving efficiency of the carrier.
