With the rapid development of the communication industry,how to realize the green communication has become a problem which needs to be solved urgently in the society.In order to reduce the energy consumption in the cognitive radio network,a network base station oriented energy saving mechanism is proposed.This paper aimed at a centralized cognitive radio network and combining with a continuous time queueing model to make the performance research and system optimization of energy saving mechanism of periodic sleep.Firstly,in order to reduce the energy consumption,we propose a energy saving mechanism with periodic sleep mode in cognitive radio networks,namely PSM-ESM(Energy Saving Mechanism With Periodic Sleep Mode).in which the base station will enter a periodic sleep state when there are not any packets to be transmitted.Taking into account both the dynamic spectrum allocation strategy and also the proposed periodic sleep mode,we build a continuous-time priority queueing model with multiple vacations.Secondly,in order to reduce the energy consumption and ensure the performance of secondary user at the same time,the system through a sleep delay period before a wake state switched to a periodic sleep state,we propose an energy saving mechanism with sleep delay and periodic sleep mode,namely SDPSM-ESM(Energy Saving Mechanism With Periodic Sleep Delay And Sleep Mode).Considering the switching process of the base station in the wake state and the sleep state,we build a continuous-time priority queueing model with multiple vacations’ delayed vacation and setup process.Then,on the basis of SDPSM-ESM,in order to furtherly improve the response performance of the secondary user,the base station precociously over the periodic sleep state when the secondary user packets reach a certain number,we propose an energy saving mechanism with sleep delay and periodic sleep mode of N strategy,namely N-SDPSM-ESM(Energy Saving Mechanism With Sleep Delay And Periodic Sleep Mode Of N Strategy).And we build a continuous-time priority queueing model with multiple vacations’ delayed vacation and setup process of N strategy.Finally,according to the PSM-ESM,SDPSM-ESM and N-SDPSM-ESM,by using the method of matrix geometric solution,we obtain the expressions of the average latency of secondary user packets and energy saving rate of system.With the numerical experiments and system simulations,the effectiveness of energy saving mechanism is verified and the trade-off between different performance measures is revealed.By establishing the system cost function,the system optimization of PSM-ESM,SDPSM-ESM and N-SDPSM-ESM are carried out.
