A Study Of Japanese Government’s Public Opinion Control To The Northeastern China During The Pseudo-Manchukuo Period

In the fourteen years of the Pseudo-Manchukuo period(1932-1945),the Japanese imperialist rulers,in order to ideally and culturally completely conquer the people of the northeast China,paid special attention to the control of the public opinion of the northeast.In the press and publishing industry,they destroyed the original press and publishing business in the northeast,monopolized the issue of pro-Japanese magazines and magazines,and promoted the idea of enslavement.In the audiovisual community,they established "Manchuria Film Association Co.,Ltd." and"Manchuria Telecom Telephone Co.” They instilled Militarism and Colonialism by films and broadcastings.In addition,the Japanese militarist rulers also set up the Reactionary Organization Association and constructed of the Founding Temple to promote the "spirit of the king",intending to destroy the sense of resistance and national spirit of the people in the Northeast.Looking at the history of the Japanese invasion,in the northeastern region,the Japanese imperialist rulers ran papers the most,set up radio stations the most,and had the special film studio.Therefore,it is very representative to study the Japanese government’s public opinion control in Northeast in that period.This paper takes it as the research object that how the Japanese government controlled public opinion in the northeast China at the time of the Manchukuo period.And it studies the effect and reaction of the background,the way,the strategy and the public opinion control.The paper focuses on how the Japanese government used the newspapers,Radio,film,religion and reactionary organizations to conduct public opinion control in the Pseudo-Manchukuo period.Four questions will be answered by the study.They are: 1)why did the Japanese government conduct the public opinion control in the Manchukuo period;2)how did they conducted the public opinion control during theperiod of colonization;3)what skills was used in the public opinion control and the actual effect;and 4)the resistance of the people in the northeast under the leading of Communist Party.The specific research ideas are as follows:The first part mainly discusses the background of the Japanese government’s control of public opinion in the northeastern region during the Manchukuo period.It mainly introduced the "mainland policy" which was proclaimed by the Japanese government for the northeastern region of China.The plan of the "September 18Incident",the preparation of the Pseudo-Manchukuo and the implementation of the official culture and colonial propaganda policy that Japanese government carried out to strengthen the Northeast people’s ideological public opinion control will also be discussed.The second part is the core of this thesis,which elaborates how the Japanese government controlled the press and publication industry,monopolized the audiovisual world,used the ideology to control the public opinion of the northeast people,and carried out colonial propaganda and enslavement rule.At the same time,the conditions of northeast newspaper,radio,film,reactionary organization association’s activities and ideological control of the ideology under the imperialist rule are described in details.The third part mainly discusses the skills of Japanese government’s public opinion control during the Manchukuo period.The Japanese imperialist rulers dominated the agenda set through the government-led.They controlled a few key persons to construct a social reality.They took incentives and penalties to strengthen the effect of the public opinion control.This paper reveals the Japanese government’s propaganda tactics and the ambition of long-term domination of the northeast.The fourth part mainly discusses the actual effect of the Japanese militarist rulers in the northeastern region and the resistance of the northeastern people under the leadership of the Communist Party to the control of public opinion,and praises the Chinese people who persisted in the darkness.This paper hopes to discuss the background,means,techniques,effects and reactions of the Japanese government’s public opinion control during the Manchukuo period,thus reveal how the Japanese militarist rulers controlled the speech,thoughts and behavior of the northeast people and thereafter,dig out the nature of how they advocated the policy of aggression,beautified the aggression and served the war of aggression against China.
