With the development of radar technology,Stealth technology plays an increasingly important role in modern electronic warfare and information warfare.Antenna is regarded as "eyes" and "ears" of platform,the application of conventional stealth technology on the antenna will weaken the radiation performance of the antenna,and turn the platform into the blind and the deaf.Therefore,how to reduce the radar cross section(RCS)and improve the stealth performance of the antenna is one of the key problems to improve the stealth technology of the military equipment.By adjusting the shape and size of element,metamaterial can realize some special electromagnetic effects,such as anomalous reflection,polarization conversion(PC),beam control and so on.These characteristics show great potential in stealth technology and attract more and more attention.In this paper,the application of metasurface in radar cross section control of antenna is studied.The contents mainly include the following aspects:1.On the basis of the conventional polarization conversion metasurface(PCM),we propose a hybrid polarization conversion metasurface(HPCM)composed of two kinds of elements that can widen the frequency bandwidth of RCS reduction.The measured results indicate that the metasurface can achieve more than 10 dB RCS reduction from 19 GHz to 35 GHz.By loading the metasurface on the microstrip antenna,the antenna can achieve broadband RCS reduction and maintain the radiation characteristic at the same time.2.One kind of element is designed that has a high polarization conversion rate,and the 1-bit optimized coding PCM is proposed by using the elements and their mirror elements.The metasurface can achieve low scattering performance of broadband,wide angle and polarization insensitive.The measured results show that the metasurface can achieve more than 10 dB RCS reduction from 15.5 GHz to 36 GHz.By loading the metasurface on the reflector of Yagi patch antenna,the antenna can achieve broadband RCS reduction and maintain the radiation characteristic at the same time.3.One kind of element is designed that can provide phase shift of 360 degrees through adjusting the dimension of the element.On the basis of that,a wideband low-scattering metasurface is proposed based on randomized reflection phase distribution,the metasurface consists of unit cells with different sizes.By randomly arranging these elements on the surface,scattering energy is diffused in all directions,therefore,the metasurface can realize broadband backward low-scattering property.The simulation results show that it can achieve more than 10dB RCS reduction in K band.
