At present,some confidential units such as government and army store and manage the confidential data by using a mass of paper document and portable storage device.The most important things is how to manage the confidential carrier and control the pipeline of them strictly.The confidential items management based on the UHF(ultrahigh frequency,860~960MHz)band RFID technology can meet the needs of the market at present.A high-performance RFID reader antenna which will be suitable for the metal-clad confidential filing cabinet is a key part of the system.So it's very necessary to research and design it.In this paper,some related technologies of RFID is researched,the theory and advantage of microstrip patch antenna are analyzed and discussed.The antenna of this paper is designed in the form of microstrip patch antenna.In the first step of the research,the microstrip patch element is designed,the resonance frequency and bandwidth of the antenna are restricted by determining its physical dimensions.Then in order to get to the required radiating area and gain,four patch elements are arranged in a patch antenna array,and the space between the elements and the overall size of the antenna array are calculated.Finally,the power divider of microstrip line which is matched the antenna array is designed,and the design of a quaternary microstrip patch antenna array is completed.Simulation results show that it has good performance of resonant frequency,bandwidth and radiation direction,and the peak gain is 12 dB.The actual test results show that the reading precision rate,distance and speed can meet the application requirements.And the antenna has a reasonable size and a simple structure,so it is suitable for the confidential filing cabinet based on RFID technology.
