Using passive radar to detect targets is an attractive research area in recent years.Passive radar itself doesn’t emit electromagnetic waves, but passively receives electromagnetic signals from the non-cooperative radiation source(namely, radio, television, communication base station,GPS,satellite signal, etc.)so as to detecting and locating the moving target.Compared with conventional radar,it has some advantages and they can detect stealth targets.Passive radar has become the main development direction of lots of country. This paper mainly focuses on these aspects:1)introduces FM broadcast model and characteristics.Analyzes the structure, working environment and the characteristics of FM broadcast signals, and introduces its spectrum and ambiguity function features;2)discusses adaptive filter theory and analyzes adaptive interference cancellation performance and features, this paper mainly focuses on adaptive LMS and RLS algorithm and introduces their structure, performance, characteristics, advantages and disadvantages and practical application;3)researches interference elimination methods based on adaptive filtering algorithm, and discusses the effectiveness of LMS and RLS algorithm for multipath interference elimination. This paper also does the simulation using MATLAB and compares the effectiveness of LMS and RLS algorithm.
